The International Fishmeal and Fish Oil Organisation (IFFO) is the international non-profit organisation which represents fishmeal and fish oil producers and related trades throughout the world.  IFFO’s vision is to enhance human and livestock health and welfare via superior nutrition to the benefit of consumers worldwide.

A globally respected Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), IFFO has specialised consultative status with the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO).

IFFO members represent nearly two-thirds of world production plus around 80% of fishmeal and fish oil exports worldwide. 

IFFO's goal is to act on behalf of the fishmeal and fish oil producers and their trade associates throughout the value chain in order to strengthen the global standing of the fishmeal and fish oil industry.  In so doing IFFO aims to be a respected service partner, adding value to the global industry and ensuring it is better informed, more profitable and more sustainable.

In order to achieve these objectives, IFFO is responsible for:

• Providing information on production of fishmeal and fish oil 
• Analysing and reporting on changes in market conditions
• Providing information on environmental issues and defending the image of feed fishing and the fishmeal and fish oil industry
• Providing an information network for Members including advice from the Secretariat.
• Holding conferences and members’ meetings as a forum for information, education, networking, and discussion about matters of importance to the industry. 
• Providing information on current and proposed regulations affecting fishmeal and fish oil in different markets 
• Promoting the benefits of fishmeal and fish oil by speaking at international events, publishing articles in international trade press and liaising with users, as well as via an interactive web portal
• Undertaking research and development on fishmeal and fish oil to make best use of fish nutrients for the health and welfare of animals and humans 
• Lobbying for trade liberalisation to increase the available markets for fishmeal and fish oil and seeking to remove unfair tariff or non-tariff barriers.
• The Global Standard for Responsible Supply of fishmeal and fish oil (IFFO-RS), which offers producers the opportunity to demonstrate responsible sourcing and responsible production and to gain independently-audited certification that they have achieved this.
